Things to do at home

After disconnecting from the blog for a whole month, I have returned to it today. This time, I will share 9 things to do at home alone. In one of my previous articles, I gave you ideas on 10 activities you could do in quarantine. However, these activities focused on the family level.

Well, today, this article is aimed at those girls who for one reason or another live alone. I recognize that for them this time is doubly difficult because having no one to share with, the days can be quite overwhelming. Not counting, the degree of stress and mental tension they are going through. To be honest, spending long hours of the day alone, make us feel stuck in a blind hole.

This does not have to be the case. There are activities that you can do alone at home and that will serve as therapy. One of the things that affects us being alone is depression. Especially, now with the time we are living and the uncertainty, it is very likely that the negative ideas are making their own.

Many times, in situations like these, it is very easy to fall into reluctance, especially if we live alone. Having no responsibilities towards another person, whether it is cooking, doing their laundry, among other things, we can spend many hours lying in bed without any benefit. Which are counterproductive both physically and mentally.

If you are going through this quarantine alone and you are reflected in the situation described above, this article is for you. When you finish reading it, you will have 9 things to do at home alone. It will help you not only now, but whenever you are alone and want to distract your mind.

Benefits of spending time alone

Before I introduce you to the activities you can do alone, I want you to know that being alone is not as bad as it seems. Although it may not seem like it, spending time by ourselves has its benefits, especially on an emotional level. Of course, everything in excess is bad. Nor is it that we are going to opt for solitude as a lifestyle. But occasionally spending time with yourself is not entirely far-fetched.

For example, spending time alone is proven to increase our creativity and confidence. Likewise, it helps us develop the ability to deal with all kinds of situations and see things in a much more analytical way.

Spending time alone gives us some freedom to be ourselves. At the same time, it helps us not to depend on others.

On top of all that, loneliness makes us more aware of ourselves and our environment. On the other hand, it frees us from those guilty thoughts and from wanting to please everyone rather than oneself.

Of course, all this is valid when you chose that moment of solitude and not when it’s imposed by situations beyond our control. It’s different to spend a day alone because you want, than be forced to locked up for several weeks without socializing with anyone.

This is where we have to take action and do something productive to keep depression and negative thoughts at bay. So, if you’re ready to find out what are those 9 things to do at home alone , then let’s get started.

What to do when we are alone?

Possibly, you already know many of these activities. These are things that we as women usually do from time to time, but we never gave it the importance that they have until now. For example:

Manicure at home

Do a manicure or pedicure.

Many of us choose to go to the nail salon once every 15 days to get our manicure and pedicure done. However, there is nothing more relaxing and satisfying than doing it ourselves at home. At least for me, it is therapeutic. It’s even more relaxing, if we prepare a comfortable space with aromatic oils.

On the blog, I have an article that shows how to do a professional manicure at home. I am sure you are going to enjoy it. You may even wonder about going back to the nail salon and paying so much money for something you can do yourself in the comfort of your home.

Make your own relaxing bath at home

Believe it or not, taking a relaxing bath once in a while has many mental health benefits. For people who have a tub at home, this is super easy. You just fill the tub and drop some bubble bath soap or one of those bath bombs sold at Amazon or Lush store and dive in.

For those who like me have a shower, they can also enjoy a relaxing bath. Of course, not in the same way, but you can get under the shower head and exfoliate your skin completely. Here on the blog, I have several homemade recipes for you to make your own scrub. This activity will help you relax while taking care of your skin.

Binge watch your favorite show or serie

With streaming systems like Netflix and Amazon Prime, this has become a favorite for many. There’s nothing like throwing yourself in bed or on the couch and watching multiple episodes in a row of your favorite series.

You can even make a healthy snack or just make yourself a bag of popcorn and enjoy the moment. It’s like being in the cinema, but in a much more comfortable way.

Things to do at home alone – Organize your home

If you prefer something that keeps you active, then this is a good time to organize that room or closet that needs fixing. Home cleaning never ends. There is always something to do. In general, organizing closets is something that we always leave for later.

When we least expect it, we have a closet full of things that we no longer use or with a trail that we barely found anything. Well, take a day and dedicate yourself to that. You will see how the hours pass and the result will leave you with a feeling of achievement and satisfaction.

Other things to do at home alone.

If you like the list of things to do at home alone that I am giving you so far, wait until you see the next ones. Some are manual activities and others will simply help you exercise your body and mind. Obviously, if you need to interact or have contact with someone, you can do it while you are at home. Below I explain how.

Things to do at home - exercise

Things to do at home alone – Exercise

You can do this by yourself at home if you prefer. Obviously, going to the gym helps you get out and connect with others, but if it’s not your thing for whatever reason, you can do it at home the same way. How? Well, very simple.

Today, there are many digital platforms that allow you to exercise at home. Some are paid, but many others are free. For example, YouTube offers endless channels dedicated to uploading exercise routines.

Similarly, there are applications for mobiles that not only help you exercise, but also offer healthy eating plans. You can go to Google or the app store on your mobile and do the search. You will be amazed with the amount of options you will find.

Make your own skin care products

One of the things that personally relaxes me, is preparing my skin care products. Sometimes, if I don’t have much time, I use conventional products from the store. But, many times I prepare the products myself.

Choose a day of the week and dedicate it to you. There is nothing like taking a full day to practice self-care. In the case that you enjoy DIY projects, preparing your beauty products is an activity that you may like. In addition, you will be using totally natural, chemical-free ingredients. Try it, on the blog, I have many homemade beauty recipes.

Listen to music or a Podcast -Excellent things to do at home.

Music is one of those things that helps us relax and in a way have fun too. When you feel a little depressed or feel overwhelmed by being alone, turn on the radio or listen to a playlist you have. You will notice instantly that your mood will change for the better.

In the case of the podcast, there are many podcasts that you can listen to and on different topics. Be it politics, religion, lifestyle, news, etc. In short, you can find any topic that you are passionate about. This will help you feel connected to people who think like you or simply give you another perspective on life. This is one of the things to do at home that helps you feed the intellect.

Make a vision board

Today, many people choose to create a vision board. This type of board, apart from being a relaxing activity, also helps to organize your ideas and goals.

It gives you a much clearer vision of where you are and where you want to go. Keeping your goals at sight, will keep you focused and give you the stimulus you need to get up each day and fight for your dreams. In case you don’t know how to start one, you can find endless ideas on Pinterest. Simply search for vision boards and they will appear.

Connect with your loved ones through Facetime.

As I said at the beginning of the article, the human being needs contact with others. In the event that you cannot physically connect with your loved ones for whatever reasons, you can do it through Facetime.

Talking with someone for at least an hour each day will help you keep communication. At the same time you strengthen the bonds of affection, either with family or friends.

That’s it for today’s article. I hope that these 9 things to do at home alone give you ideas of how to spend time productively. Of course, there are many more options, but I do not want to make this article too long.

With these 9 ideas as a base, you can think of many others. You can even read a book, decorate your home, do some gardening and even buy online. Although, I recommend this option as a last resort, because it requires spending money and in this time that we are living, we have to be aware with our savings. But of course, from time to time you can give yourself even a little treat.
